Online Legend Jon "PearlJammed" Turner Goes Electric, Wins $536k
Having posted over $7.7 million in online poker tournament earnings, he is considered among the greatest online tournament players in history.
Turner has been running well this year in live tournaments and is enjoying his best year as a live pro.
Last week, Turner posted the largest live score of his poker career after winning the Card Player Poker Tour Venetian Main Event.
PearlJammed Wins CPPT Venetian for $536,858
The Card Player Poker Tour Venetian Main Event drew a strong field of 537 players to create a prize pool over $2.49 million
First place in the event paid $536,858 and Vegas pro Jon Turner was the eventual winner. However, outside of CardPlayer and few select media outlets, this story has gone largely unreported.
Why? Because the event was held at the Sheldon Adelson owned Venetian in Las Vegas.
Adelson is the man who has declared war on the poker world and seeks to ban online gambling in the United States. There are many in the poker community that consider anyone playing at the Venetian as a traitor.
This includes Venetian Poker Room ambassador Annette Obrestad who was ostracized by the poker community for taking the position.
However, it seems that there are many pros that frankly don't care about what the general public thinks as the event was packed with big names. Some of those that cashed in the event included Adrian Mateos, Chance Kornuth, Eddy Sabat, Jeff Madsen, Kathy Liebert and Dan Sindelar.
Erick Lindgren, Jeremy Ausmus and Dan Heimiller all made the final table with Heimiller finishing in 3rd place.
Jon Turner took a monster chip lead into heads-up play and never relinquished it. Eventually, he defeated Artem Metalidi heads-up for the title and $536,858.
Turner's Venetian win is the largest of his live poker career.
Turner Moves Over $10M in Combined Lifetime Earnings
PearlJammed has won nearly $900k in live tournaments in 2016, giving him over $2.5 million for his live tournament career and over $10 million in combined live and online poker tournament earnings.
Turner had a pair of deep runs in WPT events back in April. He followed that up with 5 WSOP cashes this summer.
Turner finished 5th in the $1,500 Summer Solstice Event back in June for just shy of $100k and 100th in the Main Event for just over $49k.
This is Turner's third six-figure live score of his career and the first since 2011.
