Tuesday, Jun 17, 2008 OMGClayAiken Beat Pro Lineup in Event 28
Six well-known tournament pros sat side by side when the final table of Event 28 took place - $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha with rebuys. But big online shark OMGClayAiken won it all.
David Benyamine, Johnny Chan, Kirill Gerasimov, John Juanda, Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth - how's that for a tough final table!
With 152 entrants and after the rebuy period, the prize pool landed on a little more than $3 million. No wonder that your regular high stakes suspects were there to fight over it.
The first prize amounted to $817,000 - the second biggest payout so far in WSOP 2008, next to the super big Event 2. Certainly a nice little sum even for the big pros.
However, despite their numerical dominance at the final table, none of them managed to go all the way.
Instead it was Philip Galfond who showed the best staying power and defeated them all.
In the high stakes online poker community, Galfond is better known as OMGClayAiken, one of the most successful ultra high stakes players lately.
Having cashed in the $10,000 Headsup Championship just the other day, Galfond is definitely on a roll in WSOP right now. What's next to come from this online whiz?
