Daniel Negreanu and Jason Somerville Promote PokerStars in California

Last Thursday PokerStars held a live demonstration of online poker at the California Legislative Office Building in Sacramento, CA.

The purpose of the demonstration was to educate California players about online poker and what PokerStars can offer the industry.

Team PokerStars Pros Daniel Negreanu and Jason Somerville were on hand and played against select attendees in play-money online poker.

After the demonstration Negreanu was quoted as saying that the "read is that people on both sides of the aisle want online poker regulated in California. They are 'getting it' I think."

PokerStars is currently partnered with the Morongo and San Manuel tribes as well as the Bicycle Casino, Commerce Casino and Hawaiian Gardens Casino.

PokerStars will likely become the #1 site in the state if allowed to offer online poker once a law is passed.

Anna Khait to Appear on Survivor Season 32

A few things in life are certain - death, taxes and a poker player appearing on Survivor.

New Jersey's Anna Khait will be the next poker pro turned "Survivor" according to the Inside Survivor website.

The former PokerTube correspondent withdrew from medical school last year in order to pursue a career in poker.

According to the site Season 32 will be Survivor: Koh Rong and will be another installment of Brawns vs. Brains vs. Beauty.

Season 32 filmed from March through May of this year that coincided with a period of unavailability for Khait.

Poker pros that have appeared on the show in the past haven't had the best track record so it will remain to be seen whether Khait will be just another novelty for the long running program.

Luke "Ib6121" Schwartz Wins a Pair of SCOOP Titles

Oft-brash British poker pro Luke Schwartz has is now a four-time SCOOP champion after taking down two watches last week.

Schwartz won the first of his two titles on Tuesday after taking down Event #27-H, the $1,050 5-Card PL Omaha Hi-Lo Event.

Just 125 players entered the two-day event but it was a talented field that saw PokerStars Pro Eugene Katchalov emerge as the Day 1 chip leader.

By the time the final table was reached Katchalov was second in chips with Schwartz right behind.

Katchalov fell in third and ultimately it was Schwartz vs. TheHood for the title. The remaining players chopped the prize pool and played for $4,000 and the title.

After nearly an hour of heads-up play the pair got all their chips in after both flopping a straight. Schwartz had redraw outs to a full house and the river paired the board to give him the needed boat for the title.

Schwartz won $69,268 for his third career SCOOP victory.

On Friday Schwartz took down his second title of the series on fourth of his career when he won the SCOOP #40M, the $215 NL Zoom Turbo Event.

A field of 2,324 players entered this one and it took around four hours to play to completion. In the end he won $74,368 and his second watch of the series.

Four players have won at least two SCOOP titles in 2015. The other players are Nicolas "niccc" Choulty, Mike "SirWatts" Watson and PokerStars Pro Jason Mercier.
