Legal question regarding speeding tickets.
Ok, last saturday I let my friend borrow my car. She ended up getting a speeding ticket it was recorded as going 34 in a 25. I was wondering if this will have any impact on my insurance rate? If you need further details post here or please IM me, NickP217 .
Thanks,
Nick
Thanks,

I think it should go under her insurance since she was the one driving your car... even if you have to pay for it I would make her pay for it. But im pretty sure her insurance is the one that pays.

I don't think speeding tickets effect insurance, if they do then I'm sure it will go on your car...

I WISH
insurance doesnt pay tickets would be nice if they did tho
its u who has to pay for it if the ticket is on ur name
but its best u tell the cops ur friend drove cause if u got to go to court its to late to say this u have to let this be put in the report before u go to court
i also doubt it that ur insurance goes up after u get a speeding ticket im possitive we dont got that here in belgium

In Alberta speeding tickets do affect insurance, but not in that way. Your rates go up with demerits on your license. Like nothing would happen with a photo radar ticket or someone else getting a ticket in your car, but you getting a speeding ticket in yours or someone else's car could potentially effect your insurance I think.

Speeding tickets definatly affect insurance but they will only affect the insurance of the driver of the car...

Any type of road violation (e.g. speeding ticket, no parking zone) effects your insurance, regardless of who's driving it I believe.
lol Jeep, the day insurance decided to pay for tickets you might catch sight of a pig flying

Here in the US, a ticket can definitely make your insurance go up. Just 9 miles over, if your friend gets a lawyer takes it to court she could probably get it thrown out. You have to weigh how much it would cost to get a lawyer and court costs versus how much her insurance will go up for the next year or two. As for your insurance, it should have no effect.

From my understanding your friend will have points assesed off of her licence, and if her insurance company does some digging they might see that she recieved that ticket and raise her rates. Your insurance on the other hand should not go up, there was no claim made under your name, though police do check to ensure that the car is insured they do not report that to your company. The real problem is for her, she has the ticket and she is responsible for that reguardless of what car she was in.
