Moorman Locks Down First Live Title
Chris Moorman has long been considered the best online tournament player and now he's earned his first major live title at the WPT LA Poker Classic.
Also in the news, Ultimate Poker signed a deal to provide online poker services to Reno's Peppermill Casino and associated properties.
Chris Moorman Wins LA Poker Classic Main Event
Considered by many to be the best online poker tournament player in the world, Chris "Moorman1" Moorman won his first major live tournament on Thursday when he took down the WPT LA Poker Classic Main Event.
Moorman outlasted a field of 534 players and a stacked final table that included Michael Rocco and Adam Friedman to collect the top prize of $1.01 million.
Moorman made headlines last year when he became the first player in poker history to exceed $10 million in online tournament earnings. Moorman's score on Thursday give him $3.99 million in live earnings.
Moorman's previous largest live tournament score came at the 2011 WSOP Europe. He finished second in the WSOPE Main Event that year to Elio Fox, earning $1.06 million.
Ultimate Poker Partners With Peppermill
Ultimate Gaming announced a deal on Thursday that will see Ultimate Poker become the official poker online poker provider to the Peppermill Casino in Reno, NV and four other Peppermill-owned properties in the state.
If approved by the Nevada Gaming Control Board UP would provide online poker services to Peppermill owned properties in Sparks, NV and Wendover, NV.
CEO of Ultimate Gaming Tobin Prior heralded the signing, stating, "We are very excited about this partnership as it gives us the opportunity to bring our online poker product to the Northern Nevada market through Peppermill's extensive customer database."
Ultimate Poker is a subsidiary of Station Casinos and already serves the 17 Station properties in the state. Ultimate Poker is one of three online poker sites currently running in the state.
