World Poker Championship Review
User Review: World Poker Championship - Submitted by S.Turner
Do you like the idea of becoming World Champion? Enjoy playing every hand towards the goal of getting there? World Championship Poker is introducing just that; it is a game that has different levels that you have to qualify for; qualification is determined through your chip stack. As you progress the entry fees are steeper, but the prize pools increase as well. Play your way through the World Poker Championship series at 6 international casinos to earn a place in the championship round of No Limit Texas Hold?em. Throughout your journey at the 6 casinos you will encounter 20 different poker player characters, each with unique play styles, and aggressiveness. There are 4 different poker games in which you can choose to play: No Limit Texas Hold?em, 7 Card Stud, 5 Card Draw, and Omaha Hold?em. This game also has online play, similar to any multiplayer PC game, different rooms, etc?
Helpfulness
The helpfulness that this particular game is minimal to advanced players. It is mainly aimed at the beginner/intermediate player. The skills that a beginner/intermediate player will gain off of this game is mostly ?player reading skills?. The computer players in this game all have slightly different styles of play that they play consistently. Once you are able to read these players the game becomes a lot easier for you, finding that gaining opponents chips will become a lot easier. The ability towards achieving more skill towards your poker game will no doubt increase once you play this game. The talent to read players in poker and in this game particular is a very helpful skill.
Game Play
This game is very simple to play and is very straight forward. Picking a casino has minimal options when starting to play because you have to earn money/chip count to qualify for the next casino. Once in the casino it gives you the options of what type of poker you would like to play. They do this by showing a casino floor and from there you highlight the particular table and type of poker you would like to play. From there the game gives you the option of what table you would like to play at and shows the players and how many that are at the table. After sitting down you are looking at the dealer and u press the ?deal? button and the game starts. Your bankroll to start is $5,000 for NL Texas Hold?em. Throughout the game you are looking at each character instead of standard online games where it is a ?birds-eye-view? of the table and you never get to see what you look like (I guess the idea is that you are yourself because everything is in ?first-person-view?). The graphics in this game are very good compared to most online and other poker games. The problem with this ?first-person? style view is that is makes the game go slightly slower than most interactive poker games. Also the players and casinos are all look-alikes and they don?t use real names of places and professional players.
Conclusion
I would say that this game has a good idea behind it and that it is fun to play a game that lets you try and make it to the top of the poker world. The AI is relatively good and allows the player to not only play the cards but play the player as well. The main Problems however are: the way they have designed the betting ability for you makes it very slow to make big bets (you have to keep pressing the ?raise bet?) and the announcers comments get repetitious and annoying after a while. I would definitely recommend this game to a beginner/intermediate player but it is too easy for an advanced player to play and they most likely will get bored of the game fast.

I tried the demo version dowloaded from the internet. I wasn't impressed. I don't think we have enough technology yet to create artificial intelligence that is good at poker. Its about a feel for the game rather than a set pattern of bets.

I bought this for my PC. VERY DISAPPOINTING!! I beat the entire thing in about 1 hour. Too easy. I found a way to just steal humungous pots by bluffing and it almost always worked. VERY BORING!!! Not that fun at all. DO NOT BUY!!!
