Mercier Wins 2, Nov. 9 Now 3 Days
The Spring Championship of Online Poker is underway online and Jason Mercier already has two victories.
Meanwhile, the November Nine has been expanded and now will be played out over three days. Finally, Vanessa Selbst went on the Steve Harvey Show as a female ground breaker.
Jason Mercier Wins Two SCOOP Titles in Two Days
Jason Mercier wasted little time adding a pair of SCOOP titles to his resume. On Monday, he took down Event #5H, $2,100 Limit Badugi, for $39,200.
On Tuesday, he followed up that victory with a win in Event #8H, $2,100 NL Draw. That win added $34,400 to his bankroll.
As an added bonus, the two victories also helped propel him to Supernova Status on PokerStars. Recently, Mercier has been transitioning to more online play after sever successful years on the live circuit.
Mercier has found the transition back to online poker an easy one and at this rate he will go on to dominate the online arena as he has the live circuit.
November Nine Now a Three-Day Affair
On Tuesday the World Series of Poker announced during its annual conference call that the November Nine final table of the Main Event will now run three days instead of two.
The shift was done as a way to bolster ratings for the November Nine final and prevent scenarios like in the past where an event can run all night.
According to the revised November Nine schedule the final nine will come back to the Rio on November 8 and play down to four players.
Those four will return on November 9 to play to heads-up with the final two playing for the bracelet on November 10.
Coverage will be shown on ESPN on Nov 8 and 10 with ESPN 2 covering the action on November 9.
Vanessa Selbst Appears on Steve Harvey Show
Three-time WSOP bracelet winner Vanessa Selbst appeared on the Steve Harvey Show on Monday as a Female Ground Breaker.
Selbst played some poker with Harvey while explaining key concepts to winning at the game. While the segment was very light-hearted, Harvey paid Selbst a huge complement to close out the segment.
"Let me tell you something, as a female ground breaker...when you get to no. 1 in the poker ratings, out of 300 poker players, listen to me, you have got to know what you are doing.
"I don't care how long you keep that ranking at no. 1, the majority of poker players have never been no. 1, nor will they ever be no. 1. So I think ladies, you're looking at one of the true champs right here."
