Scott Montgomery Robbed at Knife Point
It looks like Scott Montgomery has become the victim of a mugging at the Bellagio. The following were his tweets regarding the incident:
"Got mugged today at Bellagio. Black guy pulled a knife on me in the restroom. I gave him the $2k in my wallet and he left."
" I called security, but they took like 15 mins so they didn't catch him. They are useless twits. Didn't even ask me to look at camera footage"
"Security pretty much just said oh well, life sucks, have a nice day. I'm pretty annoyed."
Montgomery came face to face with a reality of the poker world. While we all think about poker being a great game, it has a dark side that is very dangerous. Luckily, Montgomery only lost $2,000 in this incident, but it could have been a lot more or even his life.
Some people are speculating that he was targeted due to his status, etc, and that would not be a big shock. Players that flash around a lot of money or those that are known to have a lot of money become easy targets. That is one reason I don't carry any more than a few hundred with me at the most and when I can, I try to only carry poker chips when I play. I also never use self parking, especially at night. I don't trust people, and with good reason.
I will say that the fact security did little to help really sucks. I have had incidents at the Rio in the past and they were always very helpful. Other casinos I have witness some top notch security. This looks bad for a company with the rep of Bellagio.
Be careful out there. Not everyone wants to take your money AT the poker table.
