Christie Blocks PokerStars License?
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is facing accusations of blocking PokerStars' operator license in New Jersey.
Meanwhile, Isildur1 is currently February's top earner while still being down for 2015.
New Jersey Governor Accused of PokerStars License Tampering
The saga surrounding PokerStars return to New Jersey developed an interesting wrinkle on Thursday when Business Insider accused Governor Chris Christie of blocking the licensing application for the site.
The premise of the article suggests that Christie blocked the application of PokerStars in New Jersey due to his ties to casino mogul Sheldon Adelson.
Adelson has been on a campaign to criminalize online gambling since late 2013 and recent evidence shows that Christie may have received questionable favors from his "personal friend."
Among those favors is the loan of a private plane used to transport Christie to the Middle East in 2012. Adelson also donated $3.5 million to the Republican Governor's Association back when Christie headed the group.
The article quoted several "sources" but all chose to remain anonymous, thus clouding whether there's any physical proof that Christie blocked the application.
Christie's office denies any wrongdoing, claiming that the delay is an issue with the Division of Gaming Enforcement and not the governor's office.
Isildur1 is Online Poker's Top Earner Through February 10
Viktor "Isildur1" Blom holds a unique pair of titles at present. He is currently the top high-stakes earner during the month of February while also being the year's biggest loser.
Through February 10, Victor Blom has won $383,841 over the course of 12,156 hands. He currently holds a sizable lead over "jricardosc," currently up $239,429 in February.
Several players have posted solid wins through the first 10 days of the month. Crazy Elior is up $220k, PLO superstar Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies is up $191,179 and Phil "OMGClayAiken" is up $107,889.
Sahamies continues to hold the annual lead for cash earned, up $789,297 in 2015. "JayP-AA" has been running well this month. He erased a $258k loss and is now up $479,356 for 2015.
On the flip side, Isildur1 is still struggling despite his monster February. He's down $389,980 in 2015. Right behind him is bbvisbadforme with $282,949 lost and CoeJassidy with $255,450 in losses.
