Monday, Mar 9, 2009 Huck Seed Wins the 2009 NBC National Heads-Up Championship

The 1996 world champion proved yet again that he is one of the best heads-up players in the world by winning the 2009 NBC NHUPC.

The NBC NHUPC has been played five times and Huck Seed has cashed in the event every time. In 2009, he finally made it all the way and took home the most prestigious heads-up title in the world and $500,000 in prize money.

Seed defeated Vanessa Rousso in the final with two straight wins in the best-of-three finals format. Along the way to the final, Seed busted Jonathan Little, Gus Hansen, Glen Chorny, David Oppenheim, and Sam Farha.

This wasn't Seed's first big heads-up victory. In 2008 he won the 2008 Canadian Open Poker Championship.
