Thursday, Feb 19, 2009 How much will Full Tilt make on the durrrr Challenge?

The durrrr Challenge has finally started, and while Tom Dwan got a good start the epic heads-up match has only one sure winner - Full Tilt Poker.

Early Wednesday Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Patrik Antonius started the much talked-about durrrr Challenge by playing 1,541 hands $200/$400 Pot-Limit Omaha spread out on four tables.

Durrrr himself came out the winner with a $134,912 profit. Antonius lost $135,209. The $297 difference was taken in rake by Full Tilt Poker.

So if 1,541 hands generated $300 in rake, how much will Dwan and Antonius have paid when the challenge is over? According to our calculations, it will be around $10,000 - enough money to, for example, play in the 2009 WSOP Main Event.

Naturally, both Dwan and Antonius have rakeback deals with Full Tilt, but that doesn't change the fact that the site will make a lot of money on the durrrr Challenge. All the free publicity will generate tons of new players, and spectacular action like that strengthens Full Tilt's profile as the "home of high-stakes" even further.

Good luck to the players, you're going to need it. Full Tilt doesn't.
