The most anticipated poker television ever finally explodes in our face! Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Laak, Tom Dwan, Peter Eastgate, Ilari Sahamies are just a few of the names.

The first episode of High Stakes Poker Season 5 airs on Game Show Network (GSN) on March 1, 2009, in connection with the Poker Night program. The cream of the international poker elite will be there, and they'll be playing very high stakes poker.

High Stakes Poker season five has some great names

In the fifth season of High Stakes Poker, the game is $400/800 no-limit holdem with $200 ante. There's a minimum buy-in of $200,000 and a maximum buy-in of $500,000.

Among this seaason's players we find: Doyle Brunson, Daniel Negreanu, Patrik Antonius, Phil Laak, Antonio Esfandiari, Eli Elezra, Howard Lederer, Tom Dwan, Peter Eastgate, Ilari Sahamies, Dario Mineri and others. Phil Ivey or Phil Galfond will not be playing.

As the teasers below show, what we're looking forward to is possibly the most enjoying poker TV that we've ever had the pleasure to watch. If anyone out there ever doubted it, the High Stakes Poker emissions definitely prove that poker makes for some really entertaining television.

The biggest pot in High Stakes Poker history

In an interview with Medocre Poker Radio, High Stakes Poker executive producer Mori Eskandani says that "there will be a lot of action" and "a few players get hurt really bad." He also promises that we'll see one player win the biggest pot ever in televised poker.
