Friday, Oct 31, 2008 Hevad Khan wins the 2008 Caesars Palace Classic

The 2007 WSOP Main Event finalist defeated Michael Kamran heads-up to win the $1,000,000 first prize.

The second annual Caesars Palace Classic championship event attracted 311 who paid the massive $10,000 buy-in. The tournament ran over four days and in the end Hevad Khan had outlasted all opponents.

Heads-up play lasted nearly three hours. Kamran had Khan outchipped by a 5-2 margin at one point. But he was not able to defeat the patient Khan.

"I told myself I would never give up in this tournament. If I was going to be knocked out, it was going to be when I had the best hand going (into the confrontation)," Khan said.

This was 23-year-old Khan's second major tournament victory. He also won an event at the Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. He now has over $2.5 million in lifetime tournament winnings, all accumulated within the past two years.

Khan is mainly known for his sixth-place finish in the 2007 WSOP Main Event. Khan's ceaseless unchecked enthusiasm during the tournament resulted in the adaptation to what is now called an "excessive celebration rule."
