Where We Stand
It's an exciting time for the poker industry, both online and off: there's never been more interest in the enterprise, more coverage on the airwaves, or a more global community of card players united in the spirit of a great, challenging game.
PokerJunkie.com couldn't be happier to be a part of it. And we can't wait to see what's to come: in online poker, or the poker world at-large.
We're proud of the respect poker has earned in the sporting world as a game of skill and perception, intelligence and artistry, and plan on maintaining that respect going forward with the quality of our poker coverage and our continued commitment to its players, be that in the form of in-depth poker room reviews or unrivaled added-value bonuses at the best online poker sites.
Where We Were
But we also remember what we were before the poker boom: a small community of online poker players true to their sport and their colleagues, competing for scarce resources and a legitimacy in the sporting community that was far from forthcoming.
We know where we?ve come from, and we?re not going to keep our success to ourselves. We respect and support any group of people committed to a sport and its ideals, regardless of its financial viability or access to the deep marketing budgets of some of their more established counterparts.
Where We're Going
And we're going to try and level the playing field as much as we can, by re-investing some of the benefits of the new poker wave right back into those communities; sponsoring their training, their events and their commitments the best we can, to further their goals and help spread the joys of their chosen activities to anyone who'd like to share in them.
We already have, actually. Since June of last year, we've been a proud sponsor of Team Santa Fe Adventure Racing, a small group of committed enthusiasts that have tackled - and won - some of the most grueling physical endurance races ever held.
We've also signed on to support a women's soccer team in Central London - the most grueling aspect of their matches may only be dragging themselves from the rain and mud of the pitch to the pub afterward, but their hearts are in the same place as Team Santa Fe, and in the same as ours:
Building healthy communities, in online poker or in the "real" world; supporting each other in our wins and losses; stretching the definition of "sporting heroes" as far as it can go, across the gender divide; and having as much fun as possible in the process.
PokerJunkie.com is more than just another online poker site. We're a community. And we plan on staying that way; no matter how much we grow, or how diversified our partnerships.
We're happy for you to be a part of it.
