Full Tilt Payments Begin, Gus On a Heater, PartyPoker NJ Rises
Stop the presses: Gus Hansen is currently on a huge winning streak in online high-stakes cash games, his first since pre-Black Friday and American Full Tilt players have begun receiving their bankrolls.
Meanwhile, PartyPoker NJ is approaching 30 million hands dealt.
Full Tilt Players Finally Receiving Payouts
The poker world has been buzzing the last couple of weeks after the announcement that players would start receiving their Full Tilt bankrolls this past Friday.
Anticipation grew as players received confirmation emails and the day finally came. Thousands of players around the United States finally received their Full Tilt bankrolls but none were happier than pro Blair Hinkle.
Hinkle won over $1 million in the FTOPS Main Event back in February 2011 but had no idea of the financial problems that the company faced, nor did he have an idea that the government was about to change the poker world as we know it forever.
Hinkle's money was among the $150 million in funds frozen by the US government following Black Friday but Hinkle has now received those funds as confirmed in an interview with CardPlayer Magazine.
This round of payouts were for players who did not challenge their balances presented to them by the Garden City Group during the remission process. Future payments are forthcoming with around $76 million so far being claimed by former players.
Gus Hansen Up Over $900,000 in Last Week
Gus Hansen is perhaps the biggest money loser in the history of online poker. Until recently, the WSOP and WPT champion had been down over $16.5 million lifetime in online poker. Then something amazing happened. He started winning.
Since February 26 Hansen has run up over $911,000 and is currently leading all of poker in earnings for March. Hansen is up $535,544 since March 1 -- $180,000 more than Dan "jungleman12" Cates.
This is Hansen's largest winning streak since before Black Friday. His recent streak leaves him down just $15.8 million lifetime.
Time will tell whether Hansen can make a substantial dent in his losses, but for now Hansen is back atop the online high-stakes world.
