Monday, Jun 2, 2008 Event 2 Breaks WSOP Record
With 3,929 entrants, the WSOP record for non-main events set in 2007 was washed away already in the second event of WSOP 2008.
With two Day One and almost 4,000 entrants in total, this year's first $1,500 No-Limit Texas Holdem event breaks all previous records for attendance in WSOP events other than the Main Event.
Seeing the amazing prize pool of almost $6 million and a first prize amounting to more than $800K, you can no longer consider these little side events as secondary affaires.
Chip leader after the first day, or the first two Day 1, is David Bach from Georgia (US), with 114,000 in chips. Quite a few of his chips came from Isabelle Mercier who Bach eliminated when his JJ beat her AA.
When play resumes on Day 2, around 450 players will return to the green felt and try to master the swings of fate as well as the deceptions of their fellow human opponents.
