European Poker Tour Star Bertrand Grospelier
The appealing thing about big buy-in poker tournaments is that they can often bring instant celebrity to the competitors.
Since these tournaments are often televised, with the winner adding a million dollars or more to their bankroll, a victory instantly puts the player on the poker map.
EPT Star Bertrand Grospellier
A deserving EPT celebrity is Frenchman Bertrand Grospellier, who makes his home in Korea. Grospellier skyrocketed to fame by winning the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in 2008, taking down a first place prize worth two million in U.S. dollars. While this was obviously his biggest win, Bertrand was working up to such a conquest for the previous year. He cashed in no less than three EPT events in season three, finishing 18th in the Polish open, 16th in Baden, and 2nd in Copenhagen, for which he netted over 402,000 in U.S. dollars.
Bertrand Grospellier's History
Bertrand Grospellier comes to poker from the computer gaming world. As "ElkY," Bertrand was a professional gamer for several years, winning many gaming tournaments, before discovering online poker. Once he did, it was a perfect match, and Bertrand began to apply his gaming skills to the online poker world.
Bertrand Grospellier Today
Today, PokerStars is proud to have Bertrand Grospellier as one of their Team PokerStars Pros. He can be found playing online at PokerStars and will no doubt continue to be seen at numerous big buy-in live tournaments such as the World Series of Poker, European Poker Tour and perhaps even the World Poker Tour.
