Friday, Jul 11, 2008 Nenad Medic Ass-Cracked by Eskeland

Nenad Medic was eliminated from the 2008 WSOP Main Event by Norwegian Sigurd Eskeland. Only few places remained to the money, when big stack Medic went in as a favorite against very big stack Eskeland.

When Medic had his AK cracked by Eskeland's AQ at the ESPN feature table, only about 50 players remained to the bubble. Both Medic and Sigurd "Cigarrred" Eskeland had healthy stacks, although Eskeland's was bigger and would prove quite unhealthy to Medic.

Earlier chip leader Eskeland had been running a rather loose and aggressive game against his shorter -stacked opponents, so Medic's all in with big slick and an ace on the flop was more logical than it might look from the horizon of pure poker theory.

Medic, winner of Event 1 in this year's WSOP, probably don't regret his correct all-in move on the semi-bubble that much. The prize structure is very flat at the start, and super-consistent Medic was surely aiming higher than just cashing in the 2008 WSOP Main Event.
