They had a look and told me to uninstall the 50+ download poker clients that I had installed.

Said and done. My old PC actually picked up some speed again once the poker downloads were gone.

This got me thinking. Most likely I want't the only person in the world with this problem. So why is it that online poker has to be downloaded in the first place?

Why can't we play online poker over the internet without going through the process of downloading and installling software on our computers?

Well, the answer is, we can. No-download poker isn't anything new, many sites offer it already. Hey, you can even play in your phone at the sites in the Bwin network.

With ever faster and more stable internet connections, the no-download poker is bound to take over from the traditional download poker eventually.

Download poker simply doesn't have any advantages - once again supposing that the internet is fast and stable.

But a stable internet connection is already a prerequisite for a decent online poker experience.

So, if you ask me, download poker will soon be abandoned altoghether for no-download poker. And seeing that online poker is still such a new phenomenon, you can truly talk about a historcial parenthesis.
