Crazy Pineapple Champion of the World

A new milestone in poker history, we have a Crazy Pineapple World Champion. Tom Christopher from Las Vegas beat the 32 person strong field of the 2009 Crazy Pineapple World Championship that was held in Lake Tahoe earlier this week and brought home the prestigious (?) title.

Event #11 in the Sierra Poker Classic with its $200+20 buyin is believed to be the largest buyin Crazy Pineapple tournament in the world this year. The event was dubbed the 2009 Crazy Pineapple World Championship by the organizers. So this crazy game has finally got its first World Champion - a 52-year-old contractor from Las Vegas, NV. Tom Christopher is a regular poker player all across Nevada, but this is his first title.

"I lost big money betting sports today," he said afterward.  "About ten minutes before this tournament started I realized this was the only game left.  It was my chance to get even.  So, I decided to enter.  Now, I'm the world champion?  How cool is that?"

Christopher received $3,124 in price money and a ripe pineapple for his achievement.

Time will tell if Tim Christopher's new World Champion Title will give him any perks, who knows, maybe PokerStars "home of World Champions" will offer him a contract.
