Chris Moneymaker


Chris Moneymaker is a living proof of the fact that anything is possible. Over night Chris virtually went from earning 40 000 a year as an accountant, living the normal life in suburbia to a life of international fame, poker playing and million dollar winnings. Everybody knows who he is and how he entered the $10 000 World Series of Poker by qualifying through a $39 PokerStars satellite. When he then won 2003 WSOP Main event his life changed forever. He has now become an inspiration for millions of amateur poker players, living the poker dream.

Chris Moneymaker grew up in Nashville Tennessee playing bridge and backgammon with his grandmother. During his whole life, and still, his last name Moneymaker often raises the question; is that really his last name? Especially since his money making success in poker most people just thinks it’s his online nickname he’s chosen to bring along. Truth is that Moneymaker is in fact his real last name, going back to his German roots. He now live in Nashville, Tennessee with his wife and daughter but has far from retired. Since the mind blowing WSOP win in 2003 Chris Moneymaker has joined the PokerStars team and made it into the money on several big poker tournaments.
