Phil Laak Wins Bracelet 400x300
The debate on whether a WSOP Europe bracelet is indeed a valid bracelet or not has reached a new level.   Matt Savage was recently quoted on This Week in Poker as saying the following about bracelets won outside of Vegas: "I don't like it.  I don't think it's like a real bracelet. "  And "The World Series was founded in Vegas, and that's kind of what it's about.

Put Retirement Talk on Hold - Gus Hansen Wins First Bracelet

Recently, I wrote an article about Gus Hansen and whether it was time for him to retire. Well, I guess we can hold off the retirement plans for a while as Hansen just delivered a healthy helping of "Fuck you compncards" by winning the £10,350 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller Heads-Up at the World Series of Poker Europe. Hansen navigated his way through a field of 103 players to finally make it heads-up with Jim Collopy. The final match was tied up 1-1 when play was paused until today to allow for the players to play in the Main Event.

Phil Laak Wins First Bracelet - WTF!?!?

17 September 2010 , By: compncards
Phil Laak 245x300
Congratulations to Phil Laak for winning his first bracelet. WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!? Phil Laak won a bracelet?!?!? O_O Yup, Phil Laak just took down Event #1 at the World Series of Poker Europe for his first bracelet and £ 170,802. He survived a stacked field of 244 players and a final table that included Chris Bjorin. Also, don't forget that he did this all while playing with a broken arm and recovering from a serious accident he had last month.

Who Will Be Poker's Cal Ripken?

CalRipken 227x300
In sports, there are records that seem unbreakable. Lou Gehrig's streak of consecutive games played was a record that was supposed to stand for all time until Cal Ripken, Jr broke it. Roger Maris' 61 homers was another that was supposed to be next to unbreakable. However, Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, and Barry Bonds have all hit more in a single season than Maris.

Doyle Brunson Going For 11th Bracelet

I wanted to wait until the money was actually reached before I said anything about Doyle's performance at the WSOP Europe. However, now that they are in the money and he has almost 250,000 in chips, it's time to give him some props. Yes, Doyle is among the greatest of all-time, but it still is amazing to watch that man go as he gets older. I am also glad to see that he is still in the hunt for this title.
