Tuesday, Mar 3, 2009 Battle of the Crazy Finns

Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies won $785k from Patrik Antonius in a $500/$1000 Mixed Game session on Full Tilt Poker.

Three of the most active high-rollers on Full Tilt at the moment are from Finland - Patrik Antonius, Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies and Sami "LarsLuzak" Kelopuro. They are all good friends, but still play each other for ridiculous amounts of money.

Yesterday, Antonius and "Ziigmund" clashed at one of the $500/$1000 Mixed Game tables. On these tables you play both Pot-Limit Texas Hold'em and Omaha, ten hands at a time in each game.

The biggest pot of the session came in an Omaha hand. Antonius raised to $3,000 pre-flop, Sahamies re-raised to $9,000 and Antonius called.

The flop came Jh-4d-5d - Ziigmund bet $14,000 and Antonius called. Zig fired another bullet, $46,000, on the 3h turn and a third one, $138,000, on the 3s river, Antonius called both times.

Sahamies showed 8c-7s-6s-5c for a 7-high straight he had made on the turn. Antonius mucked his cards and lost the $414,000 pot.

Ziigmund won a couple more $200k+ pots and according to the Highstakes Database he was up $785,000 in total when the session ended.

Patrik Antonius should perhaps stick to the durrrr Challenge?
