Here it is.   Today is the day I play in my very first WSOP event.    And let me say that I am excited.   Yesterday we decided we wanted to play some card, so we went down to the Excalibur and played in the 9am $25 tourney.

I have arrived

Well my plane landed here in Las Vegas with no problems.   We got our rental car and drove out to the house.   I am staying in a house this time around instead of the hotels.   Its a great house and I think I will be much more comfortable  and relaxed here.

Well here I go.   Today is the day that I leave for Las Vegas and the Series.   My trip will not be like Comp's.   I am flying and it is but a two hour flight from Amarillo to Sin City.

Well it is one week until I leave for Vegas.   I am excited and nervous at the same time.   This will be the biggest tournament of my life.   I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do.

Well it has been a really good week for me here in the Texas panhandle.   Tuesday I played at a regular home game where we have been playing tournaments to start out the night.   We had two tables, and I won.   That's right I won a multi-table tournament.

Last Saturday I decided that I would go play a live tournament.   I jumped in my car and 4 short hours later I arrived at my destination.   I played my way through some mind numbing 2-4 (won 1 hand) and finally sat down to take my shot.   This was a $40 buy-in with 5000 in starting chips.

Stick to what you know

In the last month I have had the opportunity to play a lot of poker.   I have played in cash games and tournaments.   But I have seen a trend, at least in my outcomes.   I have been killing it in the single table tourneys and doing not so well in the MTT.

A moment in time

Sitting at the table you check your hole cards, in an instant they are burned into your mind.   Check, call, raise, fold.   All possibilities navigate through your head.   Subconsciously you feel out your opponents.

Card Memory and Trends

Everyone know that cards have no memory.   Players do.   This why players will continue to play cards they know have no +EV.   For example Johnny Nocards looks down at his hand and sees 8-3 offsuit UTG.

A little too innocent

I have gotten the opportunity in the last week to play quite a few hands of poker.   Two nights I played in home games and I had a bit of success, and the other two evenings I took part in pub league games.   It was in one of these that really got me thinking.   Every week at the world famous steak restaurant here in Amarillo, they have  a league game.
