Godzilla 250x300
I have some bad news to report. Unfortunately, the “Poker Junkie Monkey” will not be making its way to the 2010 World Series of Poker. For some reason, I was unable to locate the monkey before coming out here. As such, I now have a new mascot for the 2010 WSOP.

Poker2Nite Cancelled

21 May 2010 , By: compncards
It appears the Poker2Nite is no more, or at least according to the twitter’s of Joe Sebok and Scott Huff. Poker2Nite was a poker news program that started on Fox Sports Net and then moved to Versus for season 2. The program was cancelled due to sponsors not renewing according to a twitter from Huff. I wish I could say that this was shocking.

Daniel Negreanu and Poker's Best Interest

1 19 May 2010 , By: compncards
DN 238x300
Daniel Negreanu in his recent blog talked a bit about things that are in the “best interest of poker. ” He goes over several things that he said are in the best interest of poker. The first was the continued elimination of WSOP rebuy events. He says that the events skew history and give guys like him the advantage of being able to get deep in the events.

Jean-Robert Bellande Busto and a Tale of Two Broke Blokes

JRB1 227x300
In 2008, I covered the $1,500 Limit Holdem shootout and was the blogger for the final table where Jean Robert Bellande finished runner-up to Matt Graham. At the time of the event, there were a few people actually wondering how Bellande made the final table as they didn’t feel that he was that great of a player. It now appears that they may actually have been right as it looks as if Bellande is broke. Ok, if you follow his twitter at @ BrokeLivingJRB, you will see that he has a bankroll of $3,300.

My 2010 WSOP Events

16 May 2010 , By: compncards
The 2010 WSOP kicks off in just 13 days. Yes, it is hard to believe that it is almost that time once again. It just seems like yesterday that I was coming back from the 2009 WSOP. I am looking forward to this year's WSOP for multiple reasons.

Jennifer Harman 2010 TOC Vote Begging Video

14 May 2010 , By: compncards
Call me a purists, elitist, or just a plain stick in the mud, but I am not a big fan of all the vote begging that has been going on by several players regarding the WSOP Tournament of Champions. If you are popular enough or actually worthy of being included, then people will vote for you. Trying to improve your status by vote begging, offering to chop the prize money, or even donate money to charity I think is kinda pathetic really. With that being said, whomever came up with the following video about Jen Harman I think deserves cudos.

Cereus Security's Epic Fail

Demotivator Epic Fail 369x300
Unless you have been under a rock for the last couple of weeks, you have heard about the Cereus security flaw. For those that have been under a rock, there was a flaw with the encryption that Cereus used that would allow someone to view another player’s hole cards over an unsecured wireless network. No instances of cheating have been discovered to date as a result and Cereus quickly changed their encryption over to a SSL based encryption. They are currently investigating to see if anyone used this flaw to exploit other players.

To say that my first week in Vegas has been unforgettable is a bit of an understatement. I’ll start with the gaming aspect. My first full day, I decided to play in cash games for the better part of the evening downtown. The table I sat down to had a lot of money on the table for the limits and a lot of bad players.

The Poker World Wants to See Mike Matusow Naked

8 May 2010 , By: compncards
Mike Naked 313x300
A few weeks back, WSOP VP Ty Stewart made a bold prediction that three women would win bracelets in open events.   With the recent success of women in major events, there is a good chance that this could come to fruition.   Mike Matusow isn’t so keen on the idea.   Mike has made the claim that if three women win bracelets, he will run down the strip naked.
