Nolan Dalla's Warning About an Online Poker Ban Should Not Be Ignored

Online Poker Ban
Rewind to late 2013 when Sheldon Adelson announced that he was going to form a Coalition to Stop Intenet Gambling. Many in the poker community scoffed at the audacity of the man and many felt that he had little to no chance of winning. Then RAWA appeared and again people scoffed at Adelson. RAWA didn't go away and by the time the Lame Duck rolled around, and all of a sudden, he was a credible threat.

If you can't beat them, join into a partnership to take on your biggest enemy. At least that is what has happened between Caesars and PokerStars. In case you missed it, Caesars Entertainment has reversed their opinion regarding PokerStars operating in the United States. Caesars now supports an Amaya-run PokerStars and thinks that the door should be open to them to operate.

WSOP 400x300
The 2015 World Series of Poker schedule is out. After the major success of a couple gimmick events from last year, we knew things would be different in 2015. At first glance, one would probably ask if there are possibly "too many" gimmick events on this year's schedule. My initial knee-jerk reaction was yes but after looking closely at the schedule, I must admit that I like it.

Speak Out Against SB40

Giving Away Money 200x300
In case you missed it, the Nevada Senate is considering a measure that could potentially make staking poker player illegal. The bill is SB40 and is intended to curtail money laundering through sports betting proxy services. However, part of the bill could be used against poker staking because the bill would make facilitating bets on "future contingent events" illegal. Even casual fans of poker know that backing is big business in poker.

Do We Want the Realism or the Fantasy of Rounders?

23 January 2015 , By: compncards
Rounders
Why does every poker movie that comes out have to be compared to Rounders? I get the fact that Rounders is considered by many to be "The Movie" when it comes to poker because of the realistic portrayal. But this notion that every movie that fails to live up to the "Rounders Standard" is bad eludes me. The problem with many of the movies that have been made in recent years is that they try and cash in on poker's popularity without showing how the game is really played. The two movies, in my opinion, that came the closest to showing realistic poker portrayals were both mockumentaries.
