Antony Lellouche

Fans of poker whose interest is limited to the United States may not know about Antony Lellouche yet, but they will soon. This French player is a rising star on the poker circuit and is poised to take the entire poker world by storm.

27-year-old Lellouche, hailing from Paris, France, was not a product of the poker boom. In fact, Lellouche, a real estate agent, first seriously discovered the game in 1998, and quickly found an affinity for it in his native France.

By 2000, he knew he had what it took to be a pro. Lellouche honed his poker skills in Parisian games in the early years of the new millennium, where the players fought so intensely that they were referred to as "the Warriors of the Apocalypse." Lellouche says that he lost many times before developing the skills needed to be a consistent, long-term winner. Lellouche credited this harsh, brutal competition for making him such a strong player with such impressive cash game and tournament results.

Lellouche started playing tournaments in his native France around 2001, as he found he enjoyed the competitive aspects and the satisfaction that came with winning in tournament play. He had considerable success in French tournaments, taking 2nd in a 2500 Franc pot limit hold'em event in Paris in 2001, winning a 50 Euro no limit hold'em event in 2003, and cashing in nine events between 2001 and 2004 in France.

Then Lellouche, like so many others, saw Chris Moneymaker's historic run to win the 2003 World Series of Poker. Lellouche new he had to be part of this incredible poker phenomenon. He decided to come to Vegas to try his luck and this decision is what catapulted him to the status of poker millionaire.

Lellouche warmed up before the WSOP by putting up $500 to take a shot at the weekly no limit hold'em tournament at the Bellagio. Naturally, he won it. His confidence no doubt boosted by the victory, Lellouche went on to cash twice in the 2004 WSOP, 7th in the $2,000 no limit hold'em event and 17th in the $5,000 no limit hold'em event.

Since that 2004 WSOP, Lellouche has cashed in World Series of Poker, World Poker Tour and numerous European Poker Tour events. He is one of the best poker players in France and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
