Antonius Returns, Isildur1 Flatlines in Online High-Stakes
So far in 2016 Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky is the biggest winner and presently the only player in high-stakes action with more than $1 million in earnings for 2016.
Interestingly, though, Patrik Antonius recently confirmed he has returned to high-stakes action online and Gus Hansen has poked around at the tables, too.
Since returning to action Antonius is up over $200k and is the fourth biggest earner in 2016.
On the flip side, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom is tops in losses with over $712,476.
Sauce123 Only Pro Above $1 Million Thus Far
Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky is presently leading the high-stakes pros in earnings with over $1.03 million through September 17, according to tracked games at HighStakesDB.com.
Taking a quick look at his win graph, he started the year strong with nearly 300k in earnings and dropped a little before pushing past the $400k mark in February.
He pushed over $500k in March and hovered around that point until the third week in May when he rocketed to over $800k in earnings.
Like most pros, he didn't play during the 2016 WSOP but after returning he quickly moved over $900k. Near the end of August Sauce123 moved over $1 million in earnings.
He's been as high as $1.08 million but dropped a bit and presently is up $1,037,613. Sulsky is the only pro over the $1 million mark with Isaac "philivy2694" Haxton second with $727,388.
Antonius Returns and Already Up $283k
A few weeks back it was revealed that Patrik Antonius had returned to the high-stakes world after an extended break.
Part of his return may coincide with the fact that PokerStars is actively looking to block the majority of HUDs, something that drove Antonius away from the game last year.
Playing under the name "Fake Love888," Antonius has put together a solid campaign and is the game's 4th-largest earner with $283,025.
Despite only having publicly acknowledged his return recently, he has apparently been playing on and off all year.
His biggest jump came between March and May as he ran his earnings up from $40k up to over $280k. According to his stats, Antonius is focusing primarily on 8 Game.
His earnings would have been over $400k this year if not for dropping close to $100k in HORSE.
Isildur1 Among Biggest Losers in 2016
Viktor Blom appears to be having a tough time stringing together some wins as he continues a downswing that began back last October.
So far in 2016, Isildur1 is down $712,476.
Looking at his stats, he has put in about double the volume of most players and that may be contributing to his losses.
Not far behind Blom is "bodamos" with over $662k in loses. Alex "Kanu7" Milar is third in losses, down $598,228.
Other notable players that are down in 2016 include Dan "w00ki3z" Cates (-$200,262), JasonMercier (-$185,406), Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies (-$114,702) and Mike "gordo16" Gorodinsky ($113,160).
