Jamie Gold Won the 2006 WSOP Main event!
8773 players were registered for the tournament when it kicked of the 28th of July, which is the largest starting field in the history of tournament poker.
All players put up the $10,000 entry fee and prayed to the poker gods for help to navigate through this huge field of poker professionals, internet qualifiers and amateurs that had ten grand to spare. Finally there was only one player left, and the last one standing was Jamie Gold. He managed to beat 8772 players, and for that effort he received the $12 million dollar first prize, a nice addition to his bankroll to say the least. This first price is larger than in any other sporting event in the world, and all players at the final table actually became millionaires. That is how big the main event has become.Jamie Gold had to dodge a lot of bullets and catch a few lucky cards before he could get the first price, but to be able to capture the main event bracelet one also has to play great poker. Something that Jamie Gold definitely did. We saw some well timed bluffs and other great plays from this year?s champion. He is definitely a worthy winner. Congratulations to the money and the fact that you are a part of the poker history books, forever.
