Until Your Honest With Yourself...
When you can become honest with yourself and your poker business you've then taken your game to the next level. One of the most common lines you'll hear from any poker player when asked how they did is; "I'm about even" or "I broke even".
The fact of the matter is they most likely lost, it's common physcology though to naturally say you broke even when you did not. People have a hard time admitting to others that they loss in fear that people will think they are weak or not good players. It's a simple lack of confidence in there game and mental playing ability, you need to be honest with yourself and others, if your unable to tell anyone you took a loss then your in the wrong business. Poker is a game of wins and losses no matter how good you are, if your unable to tell others about losses then it shows a lack of confidence in your game and to be a good poker player you need to be 100% confident that your playing the best your able to.But let's be realistic here everyone at some point in time playing poker or any othergame has lied to someone when they took a loss and said they broke even. There's plenty of reasons that sometimes you might have to say it, but if you do have to say it be honest with yourself that you did take a loss. The reason why people say that they broke even or lost a little when they lost a lot is self denial. It's what the casinos live off of, without people being in self denial casinos would not exist. If your able to conquer your self denial deamons your one step ahead of the rest of the gamblers. I reccomend keeping a good record of your wins and losses, keeping a good acounting record of your bankroll is another big step to be a succesful poker player and ya I know it might suck after a bad night documenting that you just took a $5,000 loss, but it will make you a better player in the long run.
