A few secrets to being a winning online player

Playing poker online can be one of the most entertaining things however if you let the comfort of playing at home influence you, you might have a hard time coming out ahead in the end. The reason why online poker is so much different that playing in a brick and mortar casino is the outside influences that affect you?re playing.

When you play online there could be a wide variety of things that affect your judgment, your decisions and your play. Some examples of things that could affect your play are:
- The dog or cat trying to get your attention
- Playing more then 1 table
- Someone else in your house or office talking to you
- Doing other stuff online the same time your playing
- Rushed for time
- Watching TV while your playing
- Your mood
- Inability to get physical reads on your opponents
- The ability to on tilt and make irrational decisions
- Talking on the phone or someone comes to the door

As you can see there are many factors that are negative and can seriously affect your play. Playing online is TOTALLY different then playing like poker, playing online you will often go through a lot of streaks and when you go through unlucky periods of cards you need to take a step back and relax and go for a walk or take some time off. Playing online you aren?t dealing with any physical cash and mentally it gives you the idea that it?s not real money your losing and you then might start playing higher limits to get back the money that you lost.

If you play online make sure you stick to your style of play, playing online it?s easy to get off your game and play differently. The key is to play your game to the best EVERY session or you won?t come on top.

What I recommend is decide how long you want to play for, say 2 hours and stick to the time you allocate to play for. I recommend getting comfortable get a drink, be ready and relaxed. Make sure no one is going to bother you, set yourself up in a room and lock it and shut your phone off or put it on silent. Make sure there?s no TV on that can distract you, pump up your music though that can be relaxing and keep you focused. The key is staying focused and avoiding ay distractions. Also make sure your not checking email, chatting with friends on msn or browsing the net. Also I don?t recommend playing more then 1 game at a time. Also make sure your in a good mood, often playing online can be fun and when you have nothing to do it may seem like the best thing to do, however if your not in the correct mood, too tired, too anxious, upset, those things can and will seriously affect your playing.

Another key factor is TAKE notes players styles and tendencies, it will payoff in the future. Trust ME!

If your able to make money with all those distractions then props to you, the majority won?t but if you feel comfortable chatting on the phone and playing or playing 3 games at once then continue doing it, and if you can come ahead on the end of the year then email me, you?ll be one of a select few. I know all these things I mentioned are little things, but they all add up and will greatly affect and improve your play.
