Day 2a of the 2010 WSOP Main Event kicked off Friday as 2,412 players returned to continue their march to the money bubble. Corwin Cole started the day as the overall chip leader with 228,200.

Among the players returning to play Day 2a were Mike Sexton, David Alan Grier, Rob Hollink, James Akenhead, Marcel Luske, Dutch Boyd, Terrence Chan, Abe Mosseri, Tom McEvoy, Carlos Mortensen, Ted Forrest, Sara Underwood, Johnny Chan, Dennis Phillips, Daniel Negreanu, Scotty Nguyen, Jason Somerville and Carter Phillips.

One player that was supposed to be here but wasn't was "Miami" John Cernuto. Cernuto made it to Day 2a with just over 25k in chips. It was discovered that Cernuto was not feeling well, and chose not to come in to play. Hopefully it is nothing extremely serious and that we will see him back in action in the future.

While a woman failed to take home a bracelet in an open event to this point, several women are doing well so far in the Main Event.

Sandra Naujoks is just over 100k in chips going into Day 3. Jennifer "jennicide" Leigh has 148,000.  Annie Duke went on a nice run in Day 2a and finished the day with 176,600. Lauren Kling is sitting on 177,000 in chips. However, it is Amanda Baker that is the current top woman in the field with 203,000 in chips.

Boulos Estanfanous was the unofficial chip leader at the end of Day 2a play. He sat on 344,100 in chips. Cole South and Johnny Chan were also in the top 10 in chips to close out the day. South had 304,200 at the final bell and Chan 281,600.

1,359 players remained to move on to Day 3 play on Monday. Day 1b and 1d survivors will return Saturday and begin their journey to join today's survivors in Day 3 action.
