The WSOP Circuit Regional Championship at the Horseshoe Hammond concluded Thursday.

2010 WSOP Circuit Regional Championship winner Jim Anderson

The final table of this event proved to be one of the strongest in WSOP Circuit history.  When the smoke clear, we had our first nine participants locked into the National Championship and one player walked away with over $525,000 in prize money.

Play reached the money by the end of Day 2.  2-time WSOP bracelet winner Brock Parker busted out near the bubble, leaving the final 24 banking a payday.  Among those making the money, but falling short of the final table were Shawn Busse in 21st, Justin Smith in 19th, and David "Bakes" Baker in 14th.  Steve Zolotow fell short of the final table and an entry into the National Championship, busting out in 10th place.

The final nine players in this event received an automatic entry into the WSOP Circuit National Championship to be held at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, NV just shy of the 2011 WSOP.  The final table of this event included several huge names in Bernard Lee, Doc Sands, Shannon Shorr, and Brnadon Adams.  Gabe Patgorski started the day as the chip leader with nearly a 900k lead over the next closest player.  This is how the final table started play:

Seat 1:           Bernard Lee                        401,000

Seat 2:           David "Doc" Sands            1,360,000

Seat 3:           Jim Anderson                                           345,000

Seat 4:           Tony Hartmann                  194,000

Seat 5:           Shannon Shorr                                          905,000

Seat 6:           Mark Owens                       270,000

Seat 7:           Curt Kohlberg                                          863,000

Seat 8:           Gabe Patgorski                   2,263,000

Seat 9:           Brandon Adams                 155,000

Heads-up play in this event came down between Gabe Patgorski and Jim Anderson.  At the start of heads-up play, Anderson held a 4.95 Million to a 1.83 Million chip lead over Patgorski.  Head play did not last long.  A raising war ensued pre-flop between the two and eventually Patgorski was all-in with Ac-Jc and found himself crushed against the pocket aces of Anderson.  The flop fell 8-7-3, leaving Patgorski needing running cards to double up.  However, the turn fell the 7s to leaving him drawing dead and out in 2nd place.

Jim Anderson is the champion of the first ever WSOP Circuit Regional Championship.  In addition to the gold championship ring and automatic entry into the National Championship final, he took home $525,449 in prize money.  Congratulations.

This following are the final table payouts:
