Travis Johnson, a 30-year-old underwriter from North Hills, CA, won Event 7 $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em at the 2009 WSOP.
"I am not a professional. I play once or twice a week," Johnson said after the tournament.
The amateur player conquered a massive field of 2,791 entrants to claim his first WSOP bracelet.
"It's crazy. Poker has exploded to obscene levels. What does this room hold, two hundred tables? It's insane!"
The victory gave Johnson $666,853 in prize money.
"I can't even comprehend what I am going to do. I was happy to win $3,000 in a single-table satellite yesterday. I cashed. Three grand looked good. So, if that looked good, I can't even fathom what this means....It's just so over my head right now."
