Monday, Jul 20, 2009 November Nine - 2009 WSOP Finalists
The list is out. After twelve days of 2009 WSOP Main Event, there's a list of names. Nine lucky poker millionaires who will play it out for the title in November.
If Phil Ivey had a disastrous WSOP in 2008, or at least uninspired, in 2009 he's stepped right back into the zone where The Best Player Ever logically belongs.
Phil Ivey is there!
With two bracelets and three additional cashes before the Main Event, making it into the November Nine* surely takes Phil Ivey to the very top of the 2009 WSOP leaderboard.
Ivey even threatens to out-trump Jeff Lisandro's fantastic three bracelets plus three cashes.
Having Phil Ivey on the Final Table is great news for poker and makes the 2009 version of the November Nine immensely interesting.
International mix
Beside Phil Ivey, the most well-known names of the November Nine are probably Jeff Schulman, CEO of Card Player Magazine, and Eric Buchman with almost $1M in tournament winnings.
As has become the norm in later years, the Main Event final table features an international element. In the 2009 WSOP November Nine we find one French player, Antoine Saout, as well as one Brit, James Akenhead.
